Performance characteristics of chromite powder:
1. Color: The chromium element in chromite powder is Cr₂O₃, a trivalent chromium. As is well known, trivalent chromium is an important green mineral pigment. Natural chromite powder is a green mineral pigment that does not require chemical synthesis.
2. Cr₂O₃ content: The Cr₂O₃ content is not less than 46%, which effectively utilizes the excellent properties of chromium trioxide, whether used as a colorant or refractory material.
3. High refractoriness. Natural chromite has a melting point of approximately 2150°C and a sintering temperature of 1850°C, resulting in a very high refractoriness. As a ceramic or glass pigment, it can withstand the high temperatures of ceramic or glass kilns without any change in performance. As a coating in the casting process, it can withstand the pouring temperature of molten steel.
4. Excellent thermodynamic properties. Chromite powder has good thermal conductivity and thermal shock resistance, characteristics that are also crucial factors in the firing of ceramics or glass glazes and in the casting industry. 5. **High Thermal Conductivity:** Chromium ore powder exhibits excellent thermal conductivity for rapid heat dissipation and good thermal shock resistance, preventing sintering cracks and casting defects. Furthermore, it is an excellent refractory castable; added to magnesia-chrome refractory bricks, it acts as a slag line material in steel ladles, resisting high temperatures and alkaline slag impacts.
6. **High Hardness and Wear Resistance:** With a Mohs hardness of 5.5-6.0, chromium ore powder enhances the hardness and wear resistance of materials. Therefore, it can also be used as a friction material in brake pads, wear-resistant flooring, and other materials.
7. **Good Chemical Stability:** Chromium ore powder exhibits good chemical stability at both room and high temperatures, and it is not easily reacted with other chemicals. This allows it to maintain a long service life in complex industrial environments.
8. **Cost and Efficiency Advantages:** Chromium ore powder is not chemically synthesized, and the methods of chemical synthesis do not produce hexavalent chromium or require more energy, resulting in significant cost advantages and environmental friendliness.
